Kigu Zipper Design Improvement

Beginning in July 2024, all new orders of kigu will come with YKK zippers. Any customers who purchased an older version of the Amicus Kigu and experience zipper failure should contact us for a free replacement with the new version. Note that a shipping charge may apply for this replacement, and there was a change in size in 2023. Please read the "Claim Your Replacement" section for more details.

Details

Ever since the release of the Amicus Kigu, we have received several feedbacks regarding zipper failures. It was brought to our attention that some defective units among the zippers used on the kigu may fail during use due to the heavy weight of the kigu.

To address this issue, we began seeking to use YKK zippers, the leading standard in the zipper industry. It was not an easy journey as counterfeit YKK zippers are prevalent - genuine ones are ten times more expensive than the "generic" ones and 3-5 times more expensive than good Chinese brands. We eventually established contact with the YKK headquarters in Southern China, and all our zippers are custom-made at the YKK factory. The zippers we use on our kigu are from the YKK VISLON series.

In addition to the latest batch of Amicus kigu, YKK zippers will also be used on all our future kigu. We have more designs coming in 2024 and be sure to get yours before winter!

Claim Your Replacement

Any U.S. customer who has a failed zipper on their Amicus Kigu may contact us for a free replacement with free shipping.

Unfortunately, we're unable to extend this policy to all international customers due to the high cost of shipping heavy items internationally. You may still contact us and we'll work on it case by case. In case we're unable to provide a free replacement, we'll offer a refund or shop voucher as a compensation.
